FAQs

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a brain-based therapy that helps you process and release emotional and physical trauma. Developed by Dr. David Grand, it works by identifying specific “brainspots” or eye positions that connect to areas in the brain where emotional pain is stored. By focusing on these spots, Brainspotting helps to access and heal unresolved experiences. It is effective for treating anxiety, PTSD, depression, trauma, and creative or performance blocks.

What do we do in Brainspotting?

During Brainspotting therapy, your therapist helps you locate a brainspot or an eye position that connects to an emotional or physical issue. Once the spot is identified, you’ll focus your gaze there while tuning into what’s happening in your body and mind. The therapist provides a calm, supportive space while your brain does the work of processing the stuck or unprocessed material. The approach is gentle, focused, and allows for deep healing at your own pace.

What will I experience during a Brainspotting session?

Everyone experiences Brainspotting differently. You might notice body sensations, emotions, or memories coming to the surface. Some people have vivid mental images or strong emotional releases, while others experience more subtle shifts. Sessions are typically quiet, with long periods of focused attention and minimal talking. The process can feel deeply calming, grounding, and often leads to lasting emotional relief. Sessions usually last between 50 to 60 minutes.
